This is quite possibly the smallest magazine in the world. It fills an absolutely unnecessary gap in the publishing panorama: the shirt pocket segment. And it is designed, if you could call it that, for use on public transport, in doctors’ offices, bathrooms, waiting rooms and funeral parlors – places of transit for readers in transit. Our purpose is not to instruct nor our intention lucrative (purely out of sanity), but we do have a few things we would like to talk about, other things to defend and a lot to share. We acknowledge all that we owe to parish newsletters, pamphlets, Reader’s Digest and old avant garde publications (ultraístas, creacionistas futuristas*, brethren, make room for us next to the iridescent Osram light).

We hope to make a place for ourselves in the suitcases of adventurers, poets, loners, flea tamers and storm hunters. We do not beg for advertising or accept subsidies, so our path is sure to be stormy and perhaps brief: fleeting splendor is always preferable to a long existence as a little votive lamp. We will sweat ink and burn up computers, we will tell stories and show you magic tricks: we are proud waste basket fodder and seeds for the future. Looking back with one eye and forward with the other, we will search for new moons to walk on and new lands to discover. You have in your hands what may be the world’s smallest magazine, but that does not make us puny or small-minded: fleas are the only animal that does not have fleas.

* Note from the translator: literally, “ultraists and futuristic creationists”, two literary and artistic movements from the early twentieth century.
